On May 14, 2026, Honda said it will reallocate all excess capacity at its Ohio plants to gasoline and hybrid production and make every North American auto plant able to build hybrids. Each plant now runs two yards inside one fence. Sequenced parts come in just in time, on rail and trucks, and the line bets the part lands on schedule. Finished vehicles go out on a second clock, onto auto-rack rail and car haulers. The one place both clocks clog is the yard. We have seen your gates from orbit and nothing else. Our read is that one slow gate decides which queue stalls first.

The problem
Every yard "does it their own way." That is not strategy. That is drift.
Ask two of your sites and we would expect the same line: our yards are different.
In our experience they are not. Same trucks, same trailers, same moves. What differs is the workaround each site improvised, hardened into a process nobody chose. HMA Lincoln AL covers 900 acres with 120 dock doors. Parts sit in one queue, finished vehicles in the other. One slow gate decides which of those two queues stalls first, and the line waits on the answer. Making every plant able to flex across ICE, hybrid, and EV lands new parts and new carriers on the same gates. Legacy YMS was built to run one site, not a network. The May 14 plan makes every North American plant flex across ICE, hybrid, and EV on the same lines.
Honda also said it will raise local content of motor and inverter parts more than fourfold. More parts numbers and more carriers mean more loads hitting the same gates. A sequenced part that misses its window can idle an assembly line worth millions an hour. Just-in-sequence delivery leaves no slack at the gate. Our read is that is where the sequence breaks first. Tell us if we are wrong. Across the 18 sites we mapped, we count 1,019 dock doors and almost 3,900 trailer positions. We cannot see from orbit what runs them. Detention starts at hour two and runs $50 to $100 an hour, and carriers now pick their shippers. Every printed BOL, every forced check-in, every trailer a driver hunts down is added cost. Fix the yards and the capacity you could not see starts to surface, which is more loads through the same gates. The road is solved. The yards are the half that is left.

Primo started with one layer: the driver journey. Text the truck instead of checking it in. Paper out of the gate. No more driver-to-dock-office handoff. Across the 24 sites where it went live, those yards shipped about 5% more volume than the sites without it, on the same dock-office headcount. That alone is why Primo committed all ~260 sites to the full Yard Network System, the first national shipper to standardize every yard on one protocol. The YMS is rolling now. Live at 10 plants, every production site by the end of Q3. The highest-volume campus is going fully automated end to end, on a trailer map that updates itself in real time. The 5% came from the lightest touch. The rest is still ahead. Honda would be the first auto OEM to run inbound and outbound yards on one protocol.
